Discussion about Octex - Every Sound Tells A Story
Longitude Temporary
ESTAS is an excellent original sounding third album by Octex exploring new dimensions in ambient, dub-techno, and minimalism. Moving further away from his excellent debut (well worth checking) 'Basic Channel' influenced and rhythmic style of dub-techno, into something now more adventurous and daring that goes deeper into the realms of minimalism and sound experimentalism!Tracks flow with sonic complexity as Octex's skills & ability in creating, sculpturing, and executing minimal music and sounds across sparse, spacey, fragile, and fragmented ambient & rhythm create a unique listen taking your subconscious mind into an unhurried outer dimension journey into a world of fragile sound sonic's of ambient, abstract, & minimalism dubbed-out space rhythms float around together. The analogue equipment approach help create a feeling of warmth within its lonely spaced-out atmospheres that's wrapped and filtered with sinuous spaced-out leads, ghostly blips, static textures, warm pulses and some cool dub-techno echoes / delays/ effects. There are also moments of classic minimal dub-techno which filters through in a sparse, and sometimes more obvious way, creating a development that compliments the ambient and abstract while adding a nice dub lifting touch. At times listening can feel like a floating sonic space that sits somewhere between the boundaries of ambient and dub-techno bringing a interesting void and sound into new uncharted areas that you thought couldn't exist in ambient-dub techno - but do!Here's hoping Octex will continue to explore, evolve, and expand on his style of dub-techno while keeping the classic sound in what makes dub-techno sound so good. So-far Octex has have delivered with all 4 albums without fail!
