Notes
PARENTAL ADVISORY: EXPLICIT CONTENT!Adam McWhorter’s latest EP, “Nocturne” is a return to an acoustic, folk rock sound McWhorter has only previously dabbled with; his past few albums exploring the more synthetic sides of Modern Alternative Rock Music. This record is a far cry from over processed. The only arrangements on the EP are acoustic guitar and vocals provided by McWhorter coupled with only slight industrial and other-worldly soundscapes that compliment the tracks more than are a part of them*.
The EP consists of 7 brand-new tracks including 2 cover songs (“Blue Skies Bring Tears” originally by Smashing Pumpkins, 2000 & “Crucify” by Tori Amos, 1991), 4 lyrical manipulations/personal interpretations of poems by Sylvia Plath (McWhorter’s favorite writer), & one totally original cut. A music video for the song “The Rabbit Catcher” premiered on YouTube.com March 18, 2011.
*During the final stages of production, other instruments were sampled/incorporated into some of the “Nocturne” tracks besides the acoustic guitar & mild synths, including a Didjeridu, a Middle Eastern Oud, a Koto, & Rhodes. Old BBC recordings of Sylvia Plath were also sampled.
